Find words that move work forward.

An unfamiliar word can interrupt a useful idea. Sometimes the surrounding sentence offers a clue; sometimes you need to check. Vocabulary gives you practice connecting wording with its meaning in context, so that you can follow the writer's message confidently.

Read the short context before choosing an answer. A word can have more than one meaning, and the sentence helps you decide which use matters here. Make your choice, then use the explanation to check why it fits. If you are stuck, a hint can direct your attention to a clue without requiring you to start over.

The purpose is more than recognizing a dictionary definition. It is understanding what the writer is doing with a word and how that choice affects the message. Notice the difference between an answer that sounds familiar and one that is actually supported by the context.

The everyday aim is confidence with the language of a course, a report or a new field of work. Look for clues, recognize uncertainty and check a meaning before building an explanation or decision on it. In this sample, the questions explore those habits and the purpose of the Vocabulary exercise.
